The latest word in manipulating blood vessels in the brain.
Electrical Stimulation to increase the diameter and permeability of blood vessels in the brain to prevent acute alchemic stroke.
The SPG technology developed by Brainsgate is an innovative method of treating ischemic stroke, among other applications. Electrical stimulation of the Spheno-Palantine Ganglion in the brain enlarges the blood vessels that carry blood to the brain. This technology is very important in cases where blood flow to the brain has been compromised and opening the blood vessels in the brain is imperative to restore blood flow to parts of the brain. This technology can also be used to enlarge the diameter and permeability of the blood vessels so that medicines that would otherwise be unable to pass the blood brain barrier would be able to do so. This would allow the medicines to pass into the area of the brain, where they would otherwise be unable to go.
